摘要

The irrigation requirements of rice crop are many times more than other crops. Wheat can be raised by four irrigations only while rice requires 25-35 irrigations. Agriculture sector consumes 80-85% of available water resources. Now a days, we are moredependent upon groundwater than other resources as it is considered to be the most reliable source for irrigation. But groundwater is also finite. So with the passage of time its dependability is questionable, especially if we do not stop its indiscriminate use. The groundwater resources are declining every year due to increase in number of tube wells, declining rainfall trend, prevailing cropping pattern, etc. Now to overcome this problem it becomes the duty of each and every one to use it judiciously.
