Tamil Nadu Waste Management Ltd., a special purpose company floated by Ramky Environmental Engineering Ltd., has been identified to set up and run the hazardous waste disposal facility at Melakottiyur village, around 50 km from Chennai. According to senior Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) officials, the process for setting up the facility has been started with the Kancheepuram District Collector writing to the State Government to alienate the requisite land to TNPCB. The Board, in turn, will decide the lease arrangement with the operator.
