Strains of bed bugs which have developed resistance to synthetic pyrethroids are becoming more common. In these situations a relatively new class of pesticide chemistry, combined with strict attention to detail, is helping professional pest managers meet and beat the challenge of these bed bug infestations. In both Australia and the United States, the relatively new resistance fighting chemistry, chlorfenapyr, is marketed by BASF under the brand name, Phantom. Phantom, applied thoroughly and precisely, has become key to the success being enjoyed by pest managers in the US, parts of Europe, and now, in Australia in their fight back against the mounting bed bug scourge.
