Prior to the resurgence of the importance of quality, the role of a quality manager was one of police officer. At present, the importance of quality manager has increased in many organizations. The study is to identify the factors which influence the success of a quality manager. The importance of seven factors which were studied are:1. The manager's career path.2. The manager's educational background.3. Aspects of the product.4. Organizational structure.5.Tools and techniques used.6. General orientation of the quality program.7. Degree of ASQ affiliation.The results of this study are expected to provide researchers and managers with a better understanding of the management of quality function in general, and to caution practicing managers about circumstances that may inhibit their success.
