摘要

Purpose: To propose the design of system-based component test plans with additional system performance measures. Summary: It is known that a system consists of as many subsystems also called components. In order to study the reliability of a system, component-level tests are always considered as they have many advantages over system-level tests. However, such component-level tests fail to offer protection in making inferences about system reliability as expected. Therefore, in this article, system-based component plans are proposed that also involve minimum cost. In addition to the reliability, two more system performance measures are considered in developing the propose test plans. By expressing these performance measures as a function of failure rates for various systems types, the component testing problem is formulated as a semi-infinite linear programming problem and solved. Numerical examples are provided illustrate the working of the test plans. (51 refs.)
