Purpose: To obtain a simple expression for the joint distribution of sample mean and an extremum which depends only on the distribution of sample mean and truncated sample mean. Summary: The expression obtained allows evaluation of joint distribution exactly, in two cases or approximately, in more general cases, making the dual acceptance criterion easier to calculate. A saddle point approximation fir the joint tail probability is presented, with application to dual acceptance criterion under normality. (9 refs.)
