Purpose: To develop regression models with cross-classified responses. Summary: Conditional independence structures can be explored through selective inclusion-exclusion terms in a certain functional ANOVA decomposition and estimation is done non-parametrically via penalized likelihood method. A cohort of analytical tools is presented which includes cross-validation for smoothing parameter selection, KuIback-LeibIer projection for model selection and Bayesian intervals for odds ratios. Simulation studies and real data example are included to demonstrate empirical performance of methods.
