Purpose: To present the audit methodology developed by the graduate students of Bowling Green State University to study the functions of the quality systems educational collaboration (QSEC) and to provide a baseline for improvement. Summary: The department of engineering technologies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio developed a program for enhancing the quality knowledge infrastructure statewide. Based on lean Six Sigma strategies, the quality systems educational collaboration (QSEC) addresses workforce and technical assistance needs for organizations in all types of industries. As a part of the 16-week online course, graduate students at Bowling Green State University were required to study the QSEC and identify the areas in which elements of Six Sigma methods could be applied. The team developed an audit system to understand the functions of the QSEC and to identify the fundamental aspects of the QSEC and develop audit criteria to point out the areas of improvement.
