摘要

Several meta assessments and reviews of quality management literature has been carried out to understand and examine the growth and evolutions of various concepts of quality and its tools. Several theories have also been proposed on quality management. However, the authors state that research on field of quality management often lagged practice and the academic focus has drifted toward supply chain management and other functional disciplines. The study, with no a priori framework about scholarship in quality management, tries to take a historical perspective of the scholarly development of quality management. The technique adopted is called centering resonance analysis (CRA), to identify major themes on literature since 1995. The data for the study included a collection of 1978 bibliographical references of quality-related articles published since 1995 based on word pairings. The paper then discusses five emerged themes namely, service, management, product, process, performance, and practice with each section bifurcated for the time periods 1995-2001 and after 2002. The paper also discusses areas for further research which would have practical implications. (220 refs.)
