Supplier choice is an important part of supply chain management. Among the different methods proposed to identify quality parts, which include price comparison, sample inspection, factory visit, site survey, certification and process capability (compared in Table 1 of the text based on a survey of these methods), the process capability index is regarded as the most important technique. In this article, an integrated supplier selection method using a capability index and price comparison (CPC) chart is presented for evaluating the quality and price of suppliers. The concept of the CPC chart is expanded from the CpkMPZone chart developed by Singhal (Ref. 1). It is briefly discussed in the text.
