In healthcare, the meaningful information can be thought as correct diagnosis, where as the back ground noise as misdiagnosis. It is found that, S/N ratios in healthcare can give meaningful results if it is three dB at maximum. In addition, the higher the S/N ratio the more the diagnostic test identifies the disease (Ref. 2). Also in healthcare standardized S/N ratio (SS/N ratio) has been introduced to achieve more meaningful results related to loss function. In this study, the use of S/N ratios for health care is expanded and explained in detail by means of a case study in female breast cancer. (13 refs.)
