摘要

Purpose: To propose an extension of Wilcoxon rank sum test for the analysis of complex sample survey data. Summary: The features of complex sample survey sampling are discussed, in which a fraction of a finite population is sampled. Also, each unit in the sample has different probability of being selected. Under this circumstance, it is observed that there exists a necessity for studying the score test statistic for the group effect from a proportional odds cumulative logistic regression model for an ordinal outcome. Since the Wilcoxon rank sum test is frequently used to compare an ordinal outcome between two groups of subjects, it is planned to extend its application for testing the data from complex survey sampling. In this connection, the proposed method is applied to a complex survey designed to produce national and regional estimates of healthcare use, expenditures, source of payment and insurance coverage.
