The BLU estimator (or predictor) of a population total assumes: 1. The underlying estimation model is correctly specified. 2. The sampling design is ignorable with respect to the estimation model. The generalized regression (GREG) estimator is often viewed as being robest since its property of being asymptotically design unbiased (ADU) is not dependent on assumptions (1) and (2).
