It is discussed that when Six Sigma philosophy was introduced by Motorola, it concentrated quality improvement with limited features. Later, it was extended to achieve better financial results in addition to improved quality. Then the concept spread over to many activities by expanding its features such as lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma and so on. Further, it is noted that different aspects of Six Sigma have its own skill sets (body of knowledge). Here, the relevant lean Six Sigma skill sets are compiled and recommended for the current four major models of Six Sigma and lean deployment. (5 refs.)
