Quality management practices were determined from previous research, in-depth interviews, multiple case study analysis, and an empirically based survey. This search study explores the following issues: Current quality management practices: Identifies 89 practices representing 12 categories of quality management. Most applicable and least applicable categories of quality management: Top management support, customer relates with responding entity, work attitudes, and responding entry relates with customer, product design process, responding entity relates with supplier are the first three categories, respectively. Change in quality management categories with the firm's level in the supply chain: The results do not indicate that level in supply chain influences quality management practices. (28 refs.)
