The importance of having corrective and preventive action (CPA) in the successful implementation of various quality management programs is discussed. The use of the wide information system that can help make better CPA decisions is discussed. An approach that can be adopted to develop an intelligent decision support system by companies in decisions regarding the CPA process is described. Various components of the decision support framework developed and their working for the car design industry are presented in detail. The CPA process coupled with a decision support system is observed to be highly beneficial to the industry concerned.
