Both versions are a combination of Page's test and the Jonckheere-Terpstra (JT) test. It is noted that RCBD portion could be replaced by a repeated measures design. A simulation study makes power comparisons. Three different underlying distributions are considered. Also a variety of increasing location parameter arrangements for 3, 4 and 5 populations are covered. At least one of the proposals generally has higher power than Page's test which uses only the RCBD portion. (7 refs.)
