摘要

A repeated adjustment EPC scheme has been introduced for reducing the process variability for the situation in which the underlying process is ARIMA (0,1,1), with a possibility of special causes affecting the process. The special causes, it is assumed, can change the process level, the process variance, the moving average parameter, or the system gain. Two EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average) control charts: one for detecting mean shifts, and the other for detecting variance increases, are applied to the observed deviations to detect special causes. The effectiveness of the IPC scheme is evaluated using the expected cost per unit time. The study also investigates the effects of the process and cost parameters on the expected cost per unit time, and offers practical guidelines for the efficient selection of the chart parameters of the two EWMA control charts.
