North American containerboard producers-can almost breathe a sigh of relief. They've moved through the seasonally slow-demand winter months to what they hope will be the traditional spring seasonal pickup in box demand without any serious price erosion, according to contacts. This was achieved despite flattish box demand, and a significant amount of new lightweight recycled containerboard supply entering the market from one new greenfield mill and two converted former newsprint machines.
