WestRock officially debuted on July 1 with the completion of the combination of RockTenn and MeadWestvaco, drawing mostly positive financial reviews. The latest mega-merger sets up further consolidation in the paperboard sector, most likely an acquisition of International Paper's (IP) bleached board business by Graphic Packaging, according to one analyst. Another said the pace of consolidation in the larger paper packaging market will likely slow from its prior heated pace.
