It is week four of the strike at Glencore's La Jagua mine in Colombia. Glencore continues to ship coal on a regular schedule, sources tell U.S. Coal Review. "If the work stoppage continues for another week, then the stockpiles of La Jagua coal at Santa Marta port will begin to fall to critical levels," a source said. "Currently, Glencore is loading coal on a regular schedule." The work stoppage now has extended beyond the expectations of many industry insiders. The real test of the striking miners' durability, though, might come by the middle of July. Payroll beckons. To date, the strike has done little to affect thermal coal prices on the international market.
