Central Appalachian steam coal demand is still a ways off from a return to normalcy, and buyers are only halfheartedly searching the market for 2011 and 2012 supply as they push to keep pricing for the out years at or slightly above current levels. So says a Central Appalachian producer with product specifications of 12,500 Btu/lb., less than 10% ash and 1.5% sulfur. Though there have been a handful of coal RFPs in the last month or so, it's uncertain how much tonnage has been sold and at what price.
