摘要

Psychosomatic Medicine is launching a new special series initiative to expand the journal's attention to topics with high scientific and clinical impact. The first special series will be on neuroscience-related research. The central nervous system plays an important role in the association between psychological and social factors with adverse health outcomes. Articles in this series will include clinical research as well as basic human and animal studies that address the interplay between the neu-rosciences and psychosomatic medicine, with a focus on bio-behavioral processes relevant to health and disease.Novel imaging techniques combined with new behavioral and biological assessment tools now enable the systematic evaluation of important theories and clinical questions in psychosomatic medicine. Research targets include, but are not limited to, psychiatric conditions, psychological and behavioral intervention studies, and population-based epidemiological settings.Dr. Peter J. Gianaros from the University of Pittsburgh will act as the series editor. Our goal is to include at least one paper per issue in this series. Manuscripts can be submitted through the Psychosomatic Medicine Web site (http:// www.psychosomaticmedicine.org). The current issue includes the first paper in this series (1).
