摘要

Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound has gained popularity in obstetric imaging because of its ability to render lifelike images of the fetus. This ability has increased patient appreciation of the prenatal sonogram and has led expectant mothers to request such images on routine prenatal examinations. Although the application of 3D ultrasound in gynecology is a much later development, its diagnostic potential has been recognized especially in the diagnosis of uterine pathology. The surface-rendered image allows visualization of a more anatomically relatable image, which is particularly helpful for both patients and clinicians. Counseling of patients is improved with more easily recognizable images on 3D ultrasound because patients and clinicians can better relate to what the sonographer and sonologist are seeing.
