Erlandson et al. (2008) provide an updated summary of North American Pacific coastal prehistory. Although many aspects of their synthesis are useful and insightful, they incorrectly characterized many aspects of the archaeological and geoarchaeological research conducted by others and myself at the Indian Sands and Devils Kitchen sites on Oregon’s southern coast (Fig. 1). In the spirit of collegial discourse, I respectfully offer information on several points to clarify key issues raised by the authors.
