摘要

In light of new evidence regarding the neuroendocrine pathways to depression, Preston and colleagues suggest that the relationship between cognitive performance and hypothala-mus pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) activity assessed by means of the dexamethasone suppression/corticotropin releasing hormone (DEX/CRH) test in recovered depression could also be attributed to alterations in the mineralocorticoid/ glucocorticoid receptor (MR/GR) balance. We are very grateful for these comments and appreciate further discussion on potential mechanisms implicated in both pathogenesis of depression and cognitive performance.
