The French Air Force has begun MQ-9 Reaper training in anticipation of its first delivery, thereby confirming its purchase of the UAV from the US. In June, it was announced that Paris had requested the purchase of 16 Reapers plus associated systems from Washington in a deal worth $1.5 billion, but since then neither the US DoD nor the French MoD have been able to confirm the transaction. Aircraft manufacturer General Atomics Aeronautical Systems also refused to comment.
