I was incredibly honored and humbled when I was asked to be Guest Editor of this special section devoted to the U.S. Military's contributions to urologic oncology. Having my training and academic roots in the U.S. Army Medical Department and having spent 26 of the best years of my life serving, this was a great opportunity to showcase the contributions over the past half century. I have called on friends, colleagues, and my former mentor to help with this section.
