摘要

In this issue of AJS, Vercruysse et al report on referral and admission patterns to a regional burn center using data collected from 776 patients over the preceding 21 months to mid-2007. Similar to most other burn centers in the United States, a bimodal age distribution of young children and young to middle-aged adults made up most admissions,2 the majority being male, and the vast majority of injuries < 10% of total body surface area (TBSA). Examining referral patterns, 39% of patients were seen following referral from outside institutions, 76% of these being for injuries <10% TBSA.
