摘要

Cottongrowers and consultants are familiar with the class of insect pests collectively known as 'sucking pests'. These attack growing points and young squares of cotton and include the green mirid (Creontiades) and apple dimpling bug (Campylomma). While the damaging potential of these species is relatively well established there is a diversity of other sucking bugs which can also cause damage to cotton, but are rarely seen in commercial sprayed crops. Our experiments with unsprayed cotton at severallocations over the past few years have highlighted the presence of a number of late season sucking pests which may cause damage during the final stages of boll ripening.
