FOR the next five years there will be strong scrutiny of pharmacy's handling of Pharmacy (S2) and Pharmacist Only (S3) medicines, giving the profession a window of opportunity to really demonstrate it has the standards and practices in place to maintain them. The Australian Health Ministers' Conference (AHMC) recently decided to retain the current system of medicines scheduling for an 'interim' period of five years, but will be monitoring pharmacy's compliance with the S2/S3 standards annually.
