Recent developments along the eastern seaboard highlight the constantly evolving regulatory environment energy companies face when it comes to land access. In New South Wales, at the time of writing, industry players are evaluating new coal seam gas (CSG) regulation announced by the New South Wales Government. Many have expressed deep concern over these changes. In Queensland, the industry is digesting their State Government's review of the Land Access Framework in that state. These initiatives are likely to have a significant impact on how energy companies undertake infrastructure activity and conduct negotiations with affected landholders.
