摘要

Anger is a complicated emotion that has been addressed by the therapeutic community with a variety of different approaches and by the general public with a number of different fads. As Marian Liebmann points out in the introduction to Art Therapy and Anger, we have gone from "suppress it," "let it all out," to "manage it" in the matter of a few generations. In addition, it appears that the amount of anger exhibited by people has been steadily increasing. This prompts Liebmann to wonder: "Is this because there are more things to make us angry, or because it is all right to talk about it, or because it is seen as a problem we can do something about?" (p. 10). Whatever the reason, books on how to understand and deal with anger have proliferated in recent decades (e.g., Beck, 1999; Bilodeau, 1992; Potter-Efron & Potter-Efron, 1995; Tavris, 1989).
