Muri farmer Robert Boyes has a picture worth a thousand words. The aerial photograph shows one of his cornfields at midseason. Part of the field is a beautiful, solid green. The rest of the field is marked by distinct green and yellow streaks. What'sthe story? In the streaky part of the field, granular urea was broadcast with a spinner spreader, says Boyes, who raises corn and soybeans with his brother Bruce near Benton City in east-central Missouri. The yellow streaks, which were short of nitrogen(N), correspond to the spreader swath width.
