Ron Hammond, Ohio State University Extension entomologist, isn't sure what kind of problem aphids will cause. "For the first time in Ohio, I don't feel like I can make a prediction about the likelihood of aphid problems," he says. "History suggests 2010 should be a low soybean aphid year, but larger populations on buckthorn cause concern, even though egg laying appeared to be light last year."
