Iconfess--I'm a lawyer. That's one of the reasons Mariann Holland has invited me to write an occasional article in Citrus Industry addressing topics of a legal nature which have an impact on the industry and its members. Realizing that some of you maybe wondering whether Mariann has lost her mind by allowing a lawyer to take up space in this respected magazine. I feel I must come to her rescue and explain that there is some method to her apparent madness. First of all, I haven't always been a lawyer. Although there's a popular misconception (the perpetuation of which is understandable in certain individual cases) that lawyers are actually a mutant form of the species Homo sapiens and that their destinies are predetermined even before birth, lawyers are actually made in law schools. I had a life and a career before, as some people have put it, I lost my mind and went to law school.
