The Second International Workshop on Dynamics in Confinement or Confit 2003 was a highly successful follow-up to the first meeting on dynamics in confinement Confit 2000 [1]. The remarks in the following sections are based on those that I made at Confit 2003 as a summary presentation. Hence, they provide an impression of the meeting rather than a comprehensive summary. Perhaps the most surprising observation is the extent to which the field of dynamics in confinement is driven by the experimentalist, and, as remarked upon below, there is a dearth of new theory that can allow the reconciliation of all of the current experimental and computational results.
