The Wisconsin Ginseng Growers' Association's (WGGA) marked 1997 their year of transition from a university-directed research format, to one more grower-oriented. Once the new format is fully in place next year, Wisconsin's ginseng research will be firmly back on track, predicted Randy Beilke, WGGA president, in his opening address at the annual field day. The event was held July 23 at the Rib Falls Research Garden, north of Marathon City, in the heart of US ginseng production. Nearly 100 growers andvisitors from across the continent took part in the tours, and later joined researchers in conversation over free beer and bratwurst-on-a-bun.
