The publication of Industrial Locomotives of Mid & South Glamorgan written by member Geoffrey Hill completes the coverage of Glamorgan in the IRS Handbook series, and it is surprising how little is known on broad gauge industrial locomotives. Were there in fact so few? The subject of broad gauge locomotives used in connection with breakwater construction has been covered recently in articles by Derek Brown in the Industrial Railway Record issues 183 to 185, and those on Portland in the excellent book by B L Jackson on Isle of Portland Railways.
