Committee IT-021 which developed the original Australian Standard, and now the International Standard for Records Management (AS ISO 15489), has just released a new facilitative Standard on analysing work processes from a records management view point. AS 5090 Work process analysis for recordkeeping presents a methodology, identifies outcomes and provides checklists to help records managers analyse work processes. The Standard describes both process mapping and analysis based on decomposition for the purpose of identifying the critical points of the business when records should be made and retained.
