摘要

AFTER FLEEING HIS beloved Sri Lanka 22 years ago, Standards Australia employee Panjan Navaratnam will return to his homeland on a cycling charity mission to raise funds for his devastated country. The 38-year-old, who was forced from his country in 1983 following the race riots that led to the civil war and the deaths of more than 60,000 people, was set for the 410km ride through the centre of Sri Lanka. However, just weeks before he and his wife, Sumathi, were to embark on their journey thieves stole their bikes from their home in Sydney's western suburbs.
