摘要

Five Wildstar clones of cherry (Prunus avium) were compared with two sources of unimproved planting stock over a four year period at two lowland sites. Survival was generally high with all except one clone/site combination greater than 94%. Growth was generally good and the clones were superior to the unimproved stock. One of the clones (clone 5) was virtually canker-free and had very good form with 65% of trees judged to have the potential to be excellent timber trees. However, in terms of the number of bacterial cankers (Pseudomonas syringae pv. morsprunorum) and form, the other four clones showed no superiority compared with unimproved stock. One clone seemed to be very susceptible to canker and two clones had poor form. Not all of the existing Wildstar clones were tested and objective information on the field performance of the full range of clones is now required.
