Jonathan P. Adey describes the restoration of a replanted ancient woodland from a neglected conifer plantation on the Park Place Estate in Berkshire. In 1991 a botanical survey was carried out on a private estate located south of the River Thames at Henley, Berkshire. The estate covers over 400ha and comprises a mixture of agricultural land interspersed with hedgerows, ponds, parkland, unimproved grassland, and areas of neglected plantation woodland. The plantation woodland was planted in the late fifties and comprised a mixture of conifers and deciduous trees.
