Sue Clifford of the environmental charity Common Ground has been inspiring people for nearly three decades. Tree News editor Malcolm Tait met her, and could see why. In October, the BBC Natural History Unit will be presenting the first of a new seriesBirds Britannia on BBC 4-'The relationship between the British and their native birds is richer and more complex than that of any other nation on earth,' runs its premise. 'And, because of that, birds and bird lore provide a fascinating window onto oursocial and cultural history; and can tell us much about our changing relationship with the British landscape, our people and society.' If the series goes well, we hear, there'll be further series, each exploring our relationship with the everyday natural world around us. It could be an exciting new venture for television.
