摘要

In 2003, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) mandated that "all health professionals be educated to deliver patient-centered care as members of the interdisciplinary team, emphasizing evidence-based practice (EBP), quality improvement approaches, and informatics" (p. 3). EBP is seen as key to quality improvement in health care, and nurses are considered important partners in implementing this practice. The demand for quality care and patient safety in the current complex health care environment requires that nurses use the best possible evidence in their practice to ensure the most beneficial patient outcomes. As a result, nursing education faces the important challenge of incorporating EBP into nursing curricula.
