摘要

Rotary cutting instruments and high-speed handpieces are routinely used in daily dental practice. These instruments are used not only for the preparation of natural teeth, but also for the removal of existing cemented fixed dental prosthesis (FDPs). Clinicians use rotary cutting instruments with high-speed handpieces to section existing cemented metal ceramic or ceramic FDPs by creating slots on the facial, incisal, and/or occlusal surfaces of the restorations until the cement is exposed.1 The restorations can then be removed from the mouth with minimal force on the abutment teeth.
