摘要

Using 2 dental implants to retain an overdenture has been suggested as a standard procedure for the treatment of an edentulous mandible. For an implant-retained overdenture, it is important that the denture is adapted to the tissue without any contact on implants or attachments before incorporating the matrices or patrices into the denture.2 Premature contacts on the intaglio surface could be a result of the polymerization shrinkage of the acrylic resin after processing, errors from the processing procedures, or the displacement of resilient mucosa tissue. Contacts on the implants or attachments will interfere with the placement of the denture and masticatory forces will concentrate on those areas. Consequently, the risk of denture fracture or rocking of the denture will increase. In addition, the occlusal relationship to the opposing dentition may be changed and the border seal of the denture may be compromised.
