摘要

Sexual medicine providers help men and women with sexual health issues every day. On occasion, however, sexual medicine providers have the opportunity to help to find the truth and aid innocent men and women in proving their innocence, and sexual abuse (or sexual assault or sexual trauma) victims go on with their lives. One out of every six American women has been a victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed rape; 2.8% attempted rape) [1]. A total of 15% of sexual assault and rape victims are under the age of 12. Girls ages 16-19 are four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault [1]. Every 2 minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted [1]. These victims/survivors of sexual abuse have a high prevalence of sexual health concerns [2-8].
