Using the nuclear ITS (nuITS) region of the ribosomal DNA and an MP/Bayesian approach, a phylogenetic study was carried out to evaluate the relationship of Parmelia lindmanii with other members of the parmelioid lichen group. Our results showed that P. lindmanii does not belong to the genus Myelochroa, as previously proposed, but is within the clade containing the type species of Pannelinella.
