In September, the inventories of flat products in the distribution market dropped in ten months due to the arrival of a seasonal high-demand period and a drop in the inflow of Chinese products into the market. According to a report that the Korea Iron & Steel Association (KOSA) announced on October 17, the inventories of flat products in the distribution market marginally dropped in ten months. Analysts said that such a drop in the inventories resulted from the arrival of a seasonal high-demand period and a fall in the imports of Chinese flat products caused by a surge in the offer prices for Chinese hot-rolled coils and plates, which are being quoted in a range of 590-600 US dollars per ton and at 700 US dollars per ton, respectively, at present.
